We've all heard the clichés about traveling and going abroad. Saint Augustine is attributed with the quote that said it best: "The world is a book and those who do not travel only read the first page". While 20ish centuries have passed since the philosopher may or may not have said this, the idea still stands. Only now, we have the means to explore the farthest points of the earth, immersing ourselves in local culture and building a resume while we are at it. If only St. Augustine knew about Absolute Internship back then.

It was this idea of adventure that drew me to Absolute Internship. I applied on a whim, which has opened to be the adventure I was craving.

Coming from a small university town of only 6,000 people, moving to a city with 1.6 million residents was already an adventure in itself. Add in gorgeous beaches, blue skies, hot temperatures, rich history and delicious food? Sounded like the summer for me.

I now find myself finished the first of a four-week internship. Time really does fly when you're having fun. With already exploring some of the cultures of Barcelona, checking out the Gothic Quarter and of course trying different types of food, I'm quickly learning how fast time passes. In my first week at my international internship, the independent Metal Magazine, I have already conducted interviews and written an article about a Moroccan music festival. I dove in on my first day, researching proposals for creating online content, and interviewing a designer from Moscow!

Beyond the sights, culture and my internship, a highlight of my first week has been the people. Bringing together students from all over the world provides an added layer of brand new experiences. Dinners all together, city tours and weekend trips aid in bringing everyone closer, and nothing feels more like being at home than being surrounded by good friends.
