Black Lives Matter: What We Believe

We stand for inclusion; we embrace diversity and we promise to never turn our backs on racism.

Unlike Covid-19, the pandemic of racism is not new in America or in the rest of the world. As an organisation, Absolute Internship stands united against acts of racism and violence. We stand for inclusion; we embrace diversity and we promise to never turn a blind eye to racism.

For the past week we have seen peaceful anti-racism protests take place mainly across the US, calling for an end to racism and police brutality. These protests were sparked by the murder of George Floyd, an unarmed black man who died in police custody, in Minneapolis on the 25th of May. Peaceful rallies have also taken place in Canada, New Zealand, France, Finland, Germany, Spain, Australia and the UK. Protesters in Bristol, England, toppled the statue of Edward Colston, a slave trader whose company transported tens of thousands of slaves across the Atlantic Ocean in the 1600’s.

Our entire team wants to let you know that we see you and we stand by you. We are committed to further fostering an environment that embraces and celebrates diversity since, ultimately, our differences are what makes us stronger. Thus, Absolute Internship will not discriminate against anyone on the basis of their race, sexual orientation, religious background or financial situation. This is why we offer inclusion scholarships to students who identify with underrepresented communities, including but not limited to students with disabilities, LGBTQ+ students and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) students.

We know these are small steps but we would like to contribute our little grain of sand to create a more equitable society.

In 2018, we created a series of scholarships with the aim of supporting the most promising participants, regardless of their financial situation. We introduced the Absolute Creative and Marketing Scholarships aimed at PR prodigies, analytical wizards and social media gurus. Malika Braz, Makayla Peterson and Kennedy Addo were the recipients of the Absolute Internship scholarships of 2018 and 2019. These three students were remarkably talented and were offered a scholarship to undertake an internship overseas.

In January 2020, Absolute Internship launched a charity initiative with the aim of raising funds for Global Fund for Children, an organisation that strives to end child exploitation and gender inequality, and secure a quality education for all children. By investing in an international internship, multiple students worldwide contributed to donating part of the program fees to Global Fund for Children

Absolute Internship has recently begun a new scholarship initiative to provide life-changing online opportunities to young, aspiring individuals who are willing to accept a challenge and undertake a remote internship from the comfort of their own home. Consequently, Absolute Internship is launching 10 fully-funded scholarships to support students around the world obtain a guaranteed remote internship placement in the industry of their choice. As mentioned before, five of these scholarships will be awarded to individuals from underrepresented communities

In our programs, both remote and on-site, we will do everything in our power to fight and prevent racism or any kind of discrimination.

We welcome over 50 nationalities to our programs each year, and we are continuously aiming to grow our community.

We hold ourselves accountable to these words. Together we can make the world a kinder, more inclusive place.
